Today under the rubble,
we heard the desperate whispers of the young people
and the barely perceptible sighs of children,
who wanted in vain to be saved and given the chance to live.
Then the silence became their voices.
I hear their souls looking back
of their unfinished dreams and their evaporated hopes.
I hear the cries of their deaths demanding justice.
I hear the anger of their blood that claims that their death
and the offering of their lives is not offered for nothing.
They ask that their silent sacrifices be recognized.
They ask that their brief passage on this earth,
that some fools call cursed,
did not fall into anonymity.
In short, through the chorus of their celestial choir,
they are asking for nothing less than a total and definitive change in Haiti.
Only the complete overhaul of this guilty nation and system,
could calm their insistent clamor.
Am I Haitian? Yes.
Am I a patriot? I think so.
Am I saddened? Certainly.
Am I frustrated? Enough.
Am I a defeatist? Absolutely not.
Am i angry I growl from the inside.
Did I understand correctly what happened? I have intellectual clarity.
Am I going to act? I am determined to do so.<\/p>
